Heat stroke kills over 4,000 people annually, and thousands more suffer heat-related illnesses and injuries every year. In 2006, California became the first state to adopt a heat stress regulation after a spike of 13 heat-related deaths in 2005.
Heat illness occurs when the body keeps in more heat than it loses; core temperature rises as a result. Workers are at greater risk of heat illness when they are dehydrated, not used to working in a hot environment, in poor health, older, or have had heat illness before.
Don't let your workers become the next statistics—heat illness is easily preventable if you know what steps to take.
Join us on Monday, June 16, when our expert—the director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)—will explain what you need to know about preventing heat-related injury and illness at your jobsites. You'll learn:
- What California's heat illness prevention standard requires of you
- How heat-related illnesses occur, and the symptoms to watch out for
- What can happen to the body in high-heat conditions
- Why your workers need to be trained to monitor each other for the symptoms of heat illness, as well as what actions they should take if symptoms appear
- How employees suffering from heat illness can pose dangers to themselves and co-workers
- Prevention tips to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses

participate as you can fit around a speakerphone.
Because the conference is live, you can ask the speakers questions' either on
the phone or via e-mail.
With your registration, you also receive conference materials with additional
practical information from Employer Resource Institute sent to you via e-mail
shortly before the conference.
