Injuries to the back are one of the most prevalent and costly work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the United States. Lower back pain adversely affects one million workers in the United States every year and is responsible for more lost work days than any other musculoskeletal disorder.
On average, people with back injuries miss an average of six days of work. However, nearly 20 percent of people with back injuries miss more than 31 days of work. Ergonomics, proper lifting and carrying of materials, and proper posture and positioning are a few of the back safety elements that can prevent injuries from occurring--but you can do more.
To learn how to get a handle on controlling this high-cost yet preventable injury, join us for an informative audio conference on May 9. Our experts will explain exactly how the back gets injured and will share some real-world injury prevention techniques to help control your frequency and costs.
You and your colleagues will learn:
- The basic anatomy of the back
- What support belts can and cannot do
- How posture and positioning is key to injury prevention
- Steps to engage your employees to reduce risks and injuries
- How to avoid time-consuming and costly workers' compensation claims stemming from back injuries
- Tips for getting an injured employee back to work
