The recent devastating earthquakes in Haiti and Chile should serve as wake-up calls for employers around the state to get their emergency preparedness plans together ASAP. Nobody disputes that the state is due for a big, potentially devastating quake of its own -- it's just a question of when.

Earthquakes and other disasters present unique challenges that can jeopardize both the safety of your workers and the continued viability of your business. But proper preparation can go a long way toward lessening the impact of such a disaster on your facilities, staff, and operations.

Join us for an in-depth webinar on July 12 all about getting prepared. You'll learn:

  • The top 10 things you should do now to prepare for the worst
  • Why disaster preparedness should be an integrated part of your strategic planning
  • The important relationship between business continuity plans and emergency response plans
  • How to evaluate the kinds of hazards your business may face
  • The components of an effective emergency response plan
  • How to prepare your employees in the areas of first aid/CPR training, identification of hazards, and evacuation
  • What to do when an earthquake hits, and how to prioritize actions
  • The supplies you should have on hand in case of an earthquake or other disaster
  • How to make disaster preparedness an ongoing part of your safety routine and not a one-time project

About Your Speaker:

Zac Weiner is the CEO of The Alexia Group, a provider of Emergency Response Planning and Training based in Berkeley, CA. Prior to founding The Alexia Group, he was the Program Manager for Emergency Response Planning at Annuvia, a national safety consulting firm and training provider. He is also the former Chair of the City of Berkeley Disaster and Fire Safety Commission. Weiner began his career working in emergency services as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) working for American Medical Response in San Mateo County.

He has served in many different public safety capacities since then. He currently holds a position as an EMT Supervisor at Mutual Aid Response Services, a provider of emergency medical services at events throughout California. This ongoing public safety experience helps Weiner balance his background in emergency planning theory with common sense approaches to solving the problems that real responders face in emergencies.

This program qualifies for Continuance of Certification (COC) credit for CSPs, who will earn 0.05 COC points for attending this webinar.
