NIOSH Identifies Fall Hazards in Healthcare; Advice for Preventing Falls in Every Industry

When it comes to slips, trips, and falls, healthcare workers are at higher risk than most workers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the incidence rate of lost-workday injuries from slips, trips, and falls in hospitals was 38.2 per 10,000 employees in 2009--that's 90 percent greater than the average rate of 20.1 per 10,000 employees for all other private industries combined.
